New Landscapes

Today I finished this landscape, it measures 15cm x 12.5cm approx.
I hand dyed the wool and used a combination of wool and silk fibers.
This landscape is from my imagination, or perhaps it's a dream.
I have just realized that this is my 99th post!
So I think it will be fun to have the customary give away on my next post.
I had better get busy.

Colours

Dipping pieces into colours and trying out different shades.
I love seeing what variations I can get.
Colour evokes all sorts of ideas and the blue grey became my stormy clouds.
The soft lilac pink had to be delicate and spring like.
Time has flown by as I become engrossed in my stitching.
I should make New Year resolutions, but I never seem to be disciplined enough to keep them.
The only two I will make is to keep being creative, as much as I can be, and not to be so messy and unorganized, oops I think I have failed that one already!

Threads

Since I had my embellisher machine, which was a surprise Christmas present last year from my husband, I can never seem to throw out any scraps of thread or fabric away.
I think I may have some kind of obsessed thread fetish!
I'm sure I may have said that before...sorry.
Even when I'm at school I check the bins after the textile classes to save thread.
You can imagine what the children quite happily chuck in the bin and I'm the one who is fishing it all out again!
I keep a lot of old trimmings and threads in my Marshall & Snelgrove vintage box.I believe this was an old department store in London's Oxford Street which closed in the 1960's.
Threads are exciting because they can become anything I want them to be, is that my fascination?
Even the smallest amount can transform from a twisted scrap to an image from my dreams .Here are some more threads that have become trees.

Embroidery Painting
SoldI'm working from one of my paintings at the moment.
I will try and add my Christmas brooch to etsy and do my shopping list Saturday tonight.
There are never enough hours in the day and the light is not good for taking pictures.
I had better start making our dinner otherwise it will be cheese on toast tonight!

A Splash Of Colour

Hi,
I have managed to add some embroidery brooches to etsy today.
You can find them here.
I think the best way to describe them is stitched paintings, lots of small stitches of different shades blended together.
I have some more to add but the hardest thing for me is to let them go, strange I know but each one is so different, yes the same theme, but each has its own character.
I hope they are like real trees because they are individual, also different in seasons and weather.
Well I may not manage to sell them but I have sold this one above.
Today my daughter has been ill with a flu type virus so a day spent lying on the sofa curled up in her duvet.
I'm hoping the rest of us will not get it, fingers crossed and staying positive!
Hope your having a good week and thanks for visiting.x
P.S Thank you so much Lynn for giving me an award.
Sorry I think I still need to nominate some blogs, I will have a think.

Colourful Thursday

Hi,
This evening I have been working again on my embroidery paintings.
It was dark when I took these pictures so I propped them up on the sewing machine.
It's amazing how many ideas come from one painting, I wish I had more time.
I sometimes work also in reverse and paint from my embroideries.
Is my mark making like I paint or is it like I sew?
It just flows from one to the other and evolves as I go.
I will add to etsy tomorrow.

Painting With Threads

Just a quick post to show how my embroidery is coming along.
I wanted to use the strong , rich colours from my painting so I have embellished pure silk on to the wool felt.
I wish you could see the lustre of the silk , it is so beautiful to use.
It measures 10cm x 13cm.
A few more stitches to add and then it will be finished.
I did the original painting in Italy, a wonderful place called Alassio.
