Flower Tree

I wish you could see the raspberry pink silk I have used here , the light is so poor that the colour looks flat.
I will take another picture when the sunshine's.
Again I have been playing with patterns and the need to use french knots!
That's what led to the little blossoms on my tree.
I want you to step into my colourful landscape.

Tree Patterns

Sold

I have been trying to blog all day but my daughter had lots of homework, mainly research for different projects and was glued to the computer.
I did squeeze in just to upload on to flickr!
I decided to embellish on to this vintage linen cloth, it's worked quite well, although I have used quite a lot of machine embroidery over the silk to stop the edges fraying up.
The next stage is to add the hand stitching.
I have also finished the brooch above, based on the patterns that I see in the trees.
We bought lots of the energy saving light bulbs this week, they had them on offer in Sainsburys.
You could buy one for 99p or five for 50p !
They should last a lot longer than a normal bulb, allegedly ten years.
I now have to get used to the light, they do take a few minutes to warm up and it is a softer kind of light.
I may do my shopping list Saturday later, providing I can get to the computer.
I can see, that we may need to have a rota soon!

Drawing,Painting And Stitching.

A busy week, sketching.

Trying out pattern ideas with stitches.
Working from my sketch book.
I wanted to try working on some small pictures.
So I decided to use my colourful sketch of woodland.
This one measures 11.5 cm by 15cm.
I will continue with a few more hand stitches, I'm just going with flow and I'm not sure yet how I will display it.
I have noticed that it's getting slightly lighter in the evenings, at last!

Tree Badges

Hi,
My Mum found these beautiful vintage silk threads and she knew how excited I would be to use them.
They are so fine and the mix of colours and lustre are beautiful.
So the best therapy for me is to keep busy and last night I started these tree badges.
Intense colours shining against the wool.
I also want to try out pattern ideas from this painting in my sketch book.
Shopping list Saturday will be on my usual Sunday.
We are off to take the dog for a nice long walk, the sun is out!

Embroidery Art

Firstly I want to say thank you to afiori and her pet shell!
Also endy , lorie and sylvie for tagging me.
I need to list six random things about myself ,which I will try and think of.
1. I played the part of the star in the school nativity,I had to stand on a chair with my arms out stretched wearing a white tutu.
2. I also played the part of the Good Witch Glenda in The Wizard Of Oz while at senior school.
3.I am embarrassingly bad at mental arithmetic.
4.I have a fear of getting lost.
5.When I was about eight I used to have a comic called Bunty and I loved the cut out doll and clothes on the back. I had a scrap book which I used like a wardrobe to keep all the different outfits together.
6.My friends laugh at me when we go out and I ask for a port and lemon.
I promise to pass this on, or if any one wants to join in let me know.
Today we have been crunched by the credit crunch, my husband has just found out his job is no more.
This week alone I have heard of at least four, friends of friends who also have been affected.

Patterns In The Landscape

Hi,

Here are some of my flower brooches I have been busy sewing, for a lovely shop in Stratford-Upon-Avon.
I needed some bright colours as a contrast to the grey miserable weather we have here.

You may need sun glasses for this post as I also have another addition to my tree series.
Bright tomato red silk on a turquoise wool background.
A few more stitches and it will be completed.

I always seem to have several things on the go at once, I jump from one thing to another.
It stops me getting bored and it's good to have a break.
Sometimes I get so excited by an idea, I leave what I'm working on and start a new project...and in the process my usual chaotic mess.
This leads me on to this experimental piece, Patterns In Landscapes.
I hope to explore this in my work as I am instinctively drawn to patterns in almost anything I look at.
Thank you so much for all the encouraging comments they are very much appreciated.x

Painting Trees

Sold

I thought you may be interested in some of my tree paintings.
You can view my paintings on flickr, but not everyone uses flickr and some blog friends may not have seen them.
It helps to look back at past work to see how you develope your ideas.
I do so want my embroidery to come 'alive'
Hope the start of your week has been a good one.

Threads That Dance.

I have been playing today with different ideas.
Here are a few of the brooches I have made.
I like movement in my work and that has inspired my dancers.
I will try and add the orange tree brooch to etsy today.
The wool is a rich purple blue, it compliments the orange so well.
I now must brave the ice winds to walk the dog!

Colours

The last couple of days I have been dying batches of wool.
Dipping pieces into colours and trying out different shades.
I love seeing what variations I can get.
Colour evokes all sorts of ideas and the blue grey became my stormy clouds.
The soft lilac pink had to be delicate and spring like.
Time has flown by as I become engrossed in my stitching.
I should make New Year resolutions, but I never seem to be disciplined enough to keep them.
The only two I will make is to keep being creative, as much as I can be, and not to be so messy and unorganized, oops I think I have failed that one already!
