A Day Out & New Stitching

" Dawn"

" Crimson Tree"

The William Morris Tea Room

St Mary's Church Bibury

This week I went out for the day with my sister and Mum, we visited a small village not far from Cirencester called Bibury.
It was once described by William Morris (1834-96) as "the most beautiful village in England".
We stopped off  at a quaint tea room named The William Morris and enjoyed a delicious cream tea.

Afterwards we walked towards the church, through the grave yard and down to the banks of the river.
This was a magical place, the water crystal clear, reflecting the many trees reaching out above.
Luckily we had sunshine which created wonderful streams of light between the over hanging branches.
I can't wait to capture the ethereal tranquillity of this landscape in threads.
Above I have added a few more of my stitched trees to etsy.
I hope you have a great weekend.

" Yearning For Spring"

"Yearning For Spring"

"Autumn Trees"

"Willow"
Hello,
I hope you are enjoying your Easter break despite the inclement weather, a return to Winter here with sleet showers and a cold blustery wind.
I did manage to make drawings of our Magnolia tree, in glorious, fleeting, full bloom, before the frost caught, browning the edges of the petals, which are now carpeting our lawn.

I have been busy stitching smaller pieces again, I need a break from the huge textile I was working on at the NEC.
So here they are and I am listing again on Etsy today, "Autumn Trees", " Willow" and " Yearning for Spring".
Wishing you a Happy Easter.

Oil Pastel Sketch

I have managed to list one of my paintings in etsy today for the first time. Here
This painting on paper is a combination of acrylic and oil pastel.

In shades of blue, green and purple.
Looking to the distance, a view from my imagination.
I think I may have to stitch this too, I keep seeing it in thread!
The oil pastel sketch is the magnolia tree in our garden.
It was bitter cold outside, the snow had started to fall as I gazed out the window.
The colours, I think, reflect the freezing temperature.
You will also find other items I have listed on etsy today, post cards and a few small brooches.
The sun today has been very welcome, although according to our weather short lived.
I hope you have a great weekend.x

Two Moons & Two Trees

Here are two little trees which are going to take root in my etsy shop although they would like to be uprooted and flourish in a new landscape.
I have used some beautiful pure silk vintage threads on these two little trees.
Hope your having a lovely weekend and I will be posting Shopping List Saturday tomorrow.

Moonlight Blossom

It's been a dark rainy day here today so I have managed to finish this brooch and add it to etsy.
The blossom trees are so beautiful, the petals are falling like pink snow in the wind and rain.
The new green leaf shoots are appearing and at last it feels like summer is around the corner.

Threads That Dance.

I have been playing today with different ideas.
Here are a few of the brooches I have made.
I like movement in my work and that has inspired my dancers.
I will try and add the orange tree brooch to etsy today.
The wool is a rich purple blue, it compliments the orange so well.
I now must brave the ice winds to walk the dog!

Flower Power And Snow!

Hi,
I Had a brilliant time with my sister in London at the weekend.
We visited Dulwichpicturegallery , which is local to my sister.
A small but very interesting gallery.
The current exhibition is What Are You Like? Self Revealing Portraits by People In The Public Eye - a collaboration with the House of Illustration, presenting a collection of 'self-portraits' by an eclectic group of public figures; each contributing a composed of favourite things.
We also visited some great vintage shops, I was in heaven!
Today I have listed some new flower brooches on etsy while it has been snowing!
So it looks like you need your winter woolies, why not add a flower to brighten up your scarf or coat?

New Flower.

I have just finished this flower brooch.
A little different, this time I have used silk in the middle and coiled it into a 3D effect.
The centre stands proud which makes the petals curl up like a real flower, it works beautifully as a brooch.
I put it in my etsy shop today.

Hope the start of your week is a good one.x
