Embroidery Brooch

It's the count down to Christmas and I finished work on Friday.
I work part time at a secondary school as the art and design technician which is a very varied role to say the least.

The last few days I have been preparing patterns and organizing fabric for the textile students, they start making their designs after Christmas.

I am also advising art students who wish to incorporate a textile element to their work.
So in January it will be extremely busy, I'm even dreaming about how to make certain complicated designs!

I'm looking forward to spending a little time on my own work, exploring different ideas, and a few more blog posts.

Kayla, lovely muted colours, what lucky students to have your influence and inspiration! Hope you let them see your work....a small pebble creates a great ripple! Bet they'll be asking for threads for Christmas!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family Michala.
Great to see your work at Rugby Library Open Exhibition. Lovely to get close up and see all the thought that goes into your pieces, every stitch has a reason for being there, large or small to give the depth in your work. Good luck with all you do next year.
ps. bit to cold up there last week glad to get down to the milder climate of cornwall!x

Gello from Wintry Michigan. You are a very fortunate person to be able to work in the field you love. Lucky student indeed to have you for a teacher. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Hugs Judy

Your blog posts are always a treat. Have you ever thought of entering your large piece into the Royal Academy Summer Show? I noticed that textile pieces have been selected in the past.

People are used to paying hundreds if not thousands of pounds for paintings, your work is a painting in thread and certainly as valid.

Have a wonderful Christmas.
