Shopping List Saturday

Hi,

Today I have some beautiful art work to share with you from etsy sellers.

  1. Lillian's beautiful tree painting

  2. Julia's amazingly detailed textile art.

  3. Gillian's sensitive, romantic drawings

  4. Amelia at bombus has some unusual and very interesting art work made from maps.

Hope you have a lovely weekend, we did see the sun for about five minutes !

I have got some felting to do and blackberry picking this afternoon.

Thanks to Charlotte at fancypicnic for her great idea of sharing the wonderful talents of etsy sellers.

Sorry that I could only manage the four, I am getting a little better or shall I say quicker on the computer!

Wooly Flower

Today I did some shopping in Leamington Spa, nothing exciting , school uniforms and pencil cases.

I went with my sister, so we had to have a nice cup of coffee out.

I thought you may like to see this brooch which used to be an old aran jumper which I boiled then dyed.

I used this lovely thread from Madeira called lana which is 50% wool.

Hope you have had a good day.

Ramblings, Holiday Photo's And Embroidery

I wish I found it easy to type, I'm so slow and sometimes I have so much to share I get frustrated and give up!

Give me a paint brush, needle and thread any day.

So why am I of all people blogging!

I know how much I enjoy reading other creative blogs.

Others who share the same interests , thoughts etc...It is also away of saying "Here I am world, look at what I'm doing"

I'm just a little rain drop in a very big ocean and I'd like to make a little ripple.

I love art , and in the past it's just my family and friends who have seen it.

Sorry I'm rambling !

So changing the subject here are a few holiday snaps of Nice and a bit of embroidery I did today.

I don't know why this photo has loaded up the wrong way round, sorry!

Holiday

Why is it that holiday's seem to go by before you know it?

I can't believe a few days ago I was sitting on the Promenade de Anglais taking in the blue sea and feeling the warmth of the sun.

Here is a a very quick sketch of my view.

Sunday 10 August 2008

What another post!I have just finished my painting.I tried to capture the changeable weather, dark storm clouds on the horizon. We only just made it home that day when the heavens opened. This painting may well become another stitched art work.

A Flower For My Dress

What a miserable day, rain and more rain.

Today we have been getting ready for our holiday to France.

We are off on Tuesday and I can't wait for some much needed sunshine, hopefully!

So I had a break from ironing and packing to fit in a quick bit of stitching.

I made a flower for this dress, which I will wear with red shoes in the autumn.
I love vintage clothing or anything vintage inspired.
Now I just need to put the kettle on and then get back to that packing!

More Flower Brooches

Hi,

I have just had an order for some brooches for an Art Gallery and a local shop so I have been making these.

This has been between shopping for our holiday and moving piles of washing around!

Shopping List Saturday

Hi,

Charlotte at Fancypicnic has started a Shopping list Saturday .

This is a great way to share wonderful hand made goods on Etsy.

So here is a few that I have found.

From top left to right is Ravenhill who makes the most beautiful dolls, such lovely fabrics.

Then Contemporarystitche's which has the most exquisite, fine embroidery.

Followed by Beaky who can make this Molly hat in any colour and then Hensteeth who I purchased from this week a wonderful needlecase.

Thank you all for letting me show your work.

Hope you have a great weekend.

Peg dolls

When I was young

I was always a creative child.

When I was about nine I started making peg dolls.

Lots of them.

My aunt worked as a buyer for Jaeger and used to bring me small samples of Liberty fabrics that I could use in my creations.

I still have these strange little people.

I used to make the hair from the tassels of old lampshades!

So I thought I would share them and yes they are around 31 years old!

Have you anything you made as a child?

A Painting I Did Today

Hi,

Today I felt the need to paint.

We went for a walk the other day and there are some beautiful fields, the shades of blue and purple.

They are a Borage crop and there are many of these fields around Kenilworth Castle.

So glad we took our dog out for a long walk yesterday as it's poured with rain today.
It feels like Autumn not summer!

Sketch to Stitch

Nearly all of my embroidery work is inspired by my drawings.

I want to capture the moment of how I feel about a place.

This I try and do through my colour and the direction of my brush strokes or smudges of pastel.

I wanted to show you this quick sketch which led to my Olive tree embroidery.
You can see my
Olive Tree picture here.
I must say thank you t0 Jackie for all her help in putting my blog together as with out her expertise it would look a right mess!

Etsy and Felt

Hi,

Yesterday I managed to open a etsy shop, I was very proud of myself as I have always avoided anything to do with computers!

To my amazement I sold a flower just after listing it.

There has been so much in the news recently of the credit crunch I had not been too hopeful.

Well at least I sold one and it's on its way to America.

It also means I can buy some lovely hand made gifts, now I have got the hang of it all!

Also another first, I did the pro thing on flickr.

Now I can stop deleting photo's to add more!

I also was able to put some links on my blog , thank you Konny

Here are some felt flowers I made today.

The pink one I made for my sister to match her outfit for a wedding.

She will be wearing it in her hair.

Hope your having a good week and now I must tidy up my mess, threads, threads and more threads!
