Patterns In The Sky

Hello,

We have had a busy week, my husband started a new job, at last!
My son has had sats tests all this week, he is in his last term of primary school.
A time for reflection, looking at his school photo's, where has that time gone?
I sketched the tree in our garden on Saturday, I hope to work this as a stitched piece.

The Patterns In The Sky is a new little picture, the weather this week inspired me, bright and windy although today was rubbish, dull, grey and cold.

Drawing,Painting And Stitching.

A busy week, sketching.

Trying out pattern ideas with stitches.
Working from my sketch book.
I wanted to try working on some small pictures.
So I decided to use my colourful sketch of woodland.
This one measures 11.5 cm by 15cm.
I will continue with a few more hand stitches, I'm just going with flow and I'm not sure yet how I will display it.
I have noticed that it's getting slightly lighter in the evenings, at last!

Colours

The last couple of days I have been dying batches of wool.
Dipping pieces into colours and trying out different shades.
I love seeing what variations I can get.
Colour evokes all sorts of ideas and the blue grey became my stormy clouds.
The soft lilac pink had to be delicate and spring like.
Time has flown by as I become engrossed in my stitching.
I should make New Year resolutions, but I never seem to be disciplined enough to keep them.
The only two I will make is to keep being creative, as much as I can be, and not to be so messy and unorganized, oops I think I have failed that one already!

Art In Miniture

Taking ideas from my sketch book

More stitching on this

I have been working on my stitching this week fitting it around children and visiting friends.

On Wednesday and Thursday I had two children's craft sessions to run at the local leisure centre.
We made Halloween inspired necklaces on one session and masks on the other.
Seeing the children so happy and eager made me want to continue with my own work when I got home.
I am a very visual person and always need to work my ideas out in my sketch book first.
I have never been able to follow a pattern , in fact I'm hopeless.
I have to make my own up.
Tonight there will be no sewing as I'm off to see the new James Bond film.
Sewing can wait for Daniel Craig!
Lastly I must say thank you to Tricia who has given me an award.x

Painted Stitches

Hi,
The next stage of working is painting.
So this is a painting I have been working on along side my textile work.
Again the light is so dim , nearly dark! when I took these pictures.
Hope you have a good start to your week.x

Little Art Works And Me

Painting in sketch book
Embroidery on felt

Dusted!

Today I actually did some dusting, I know it's amazing when I have so much stitching and painting to do!
Here I am on the mantle piece , yes the black and white photo!
Taken about 1969.

Not sure I'm brave enough to show a picture now, but maybe I should as I'm only going to look less young the longer I leave it.
Note I say less young, sounds better than older!
Now I know I'm getting older, when my thirteen year old daughter comes home with her new purchase ....Leg Warmers! they are all the rage apparently.

I have been working on this small art piece 8cm x 8cm approx.
My larger embroideries take months of work so I'm trying out different ideas using my paintings as inspiration.
What do you think?
I may add a few to etsy and see if any one would be interested.
I will be working on some ideas from this painting next.
So hope to have some thing new to show you soon.
It's been raining here most of the day so a good day to be creative.
Bye for now.x

Ramblings, Holiday Photo's And Embroidery

I wish I found it easy to type, I'm so slow and sometimes I have so much to share I get frustrated and give up!

Give me a paint brush, needle and thread any day.

So why am I of all people blogging!

I know how much I enjoy reading other creative blogs.

Others who share the same interests , thoughts etc...It is also away of saying "Here I am world, look at what I'm doing"

I'm just a little rain drop in a very big ocean and I'd like to make a little ripple.

I love art , and in the past it's just my family and friends who have seen it.

Sorry I'm rambling !

So changing the subject here are a few holiday snaps of Nice and a bit of embroidery I did today.

I don't know why this photo has loaded up the wrong way round, sorry!
