Summer Sketch

A page from my sketch book, a hot day in France.
My oil pastels were almost melting into the page!
Cornwall was quite a contrast, the weather cool and showery, but we had a lovely time.
The rugged coastline was inspiring the shapes, colours and dramatic skies.
I will post Cornwall sketches in the next few days and more French ones too.
This week it will be back to the school routine and I wonder how I ever manage to get anything done!

Now I am getting familiar with your work I can see how important your drawings are. The stitched versions are very close to the sketched versions in colour and movement. I can almost see this one embroidered!

I'm glad you had good holidays in both France and Cornwall. I just remembered, I was supposed to let you know about that place in Cornwall, I'm so sorry! Your sketch is wonderful and I shall enjoy seeing more of your sketches

The colours in this are just wonderful! Im missing my own art materials badly right now as our home is being renovated and is a totaly mess, so it will be a while before I can be creative I think - I feel much better for seeing your work today!

Love Julia xxx

We had the same experience in Cornwall - but with kids you just get out and do things anyway don't you. Your sketch reminds me of Cezanne x
