This week has been full of lows and highs in that order.
My husband had to go through redundancy again, second time this year!
Using threads is always my therapy, I can immerse myself in my own little thread world and it's a good way to de-stress.
So I made my little red tree brooch out of an old black wool jumper, which I felted and then the bright orange tree on some scraps of hand dyed wool blanket.
On Wednesday I had a very kind email from a flickr friend saying they had seen my work in Stitch Magazine.
I had such a shock when I saw my work on the front cover!
You will find four of my embroideries, which I made especially for Stitch, based on the seasons, in the middle of the magazine.
So a much better end to the week after such a rubbish start and lets hope there will be an end to this recession soon.
Hope you have a lovely weekend.x

Congratulations! I've only been reading your blog for about 6 months, but I would recognize your work anywhere.
Just got my magazine this week. Conratulations Michaela - it is well deserved and well done making the front cover. I have one of your brooches which has been well admired. Nex t time we hahve our branch meeting I am going to show off that I have a brooch made by the clever artist featured on the front cover and in a article inside!!!! Sorry to hear about your husband - I do hope he finds work soon. Fingers crossed for him.
These are such tough and scary times! Hoping your husband finds something else soon. And so good for you to have your sanctuary of stitching. I think a lot of us head to our studios/sewing rooms as a place to breathe, create, escape a bit...take care!

Hello from Michigan,
We get the "Stitch" Mag. from our local Jo Ann store. I did not buy this months one but when I looked at what the next issue would have I immediately recognize your extremely lovely signature brooch and so I made a note to look for the next issue when ever it shows up here in the states. Congratulation on being high lighted in the Stitch Mag. Well deserved indeed. vbg
Sad to hear about your DH. The recess has been soooooooooo difficult for so many of us. Please know I am thinking of you all. Hugs Judy
Wow, how exciting, you so deserve it, your work is just stunning!!!!
Hope hubby gets another job soon, I totally agree that creating is the BEST de-stresser :0)
Hi.I've never visited your blog before today and found it quite by chance by following a link from another blog.
I haven't done any needlework for over 10 years but saw this magazine and bought it and after seeing your trees felt well and truly inspired. I've now had a bit of a splurge on materials lol!!
Love your work!
Jo
